HYPE Holders Get a Binance Withdrawal Date, but No Reason for the Wait

Binance says Hyperliquid (HYPE) withdrawals should reopen by the end of next week. The date came on Friday, hours after HYPE fans publicly asked why the token kept missing the exchange’s recovery list.

Until then, HYPE held on Binance is stuck there. Owners can sell it on Binance, but they cannot move it to a private wallet or another exchange.

Why Are HYPE Holders Still Locked In?

The freeze started on October 29. That day, Binance said a security breach had hit an estimated $6.3 billion in funds.

Binance has reopened withdrawals one token at a time. Its November 5 update said it ranks tokens by user demand over the past week, then runs security checks on each one.

HYPE is the token of Hyperliquid, a crypto exchange where traders bet on price moves with borrowed money. Hyperliquid Daily, an X account covering the project, said HYPE clearly met both tests, but remained left out.

“If both demand and market relevance are the priorities, why isn’t HYPE on the list yet?” they said.

Binance has since given a deadline only, but its response did not give a reason.

“We’re working to reopen withdrawals for HYPE, INJ, APT, PLASMA, NEAR, LTC by end of next week.”

Is Binance Slow-Walking HYPE, or Is It Just Harder to Check?

There is a technical case for the wait. HYPE runs on Hyperliquid’s own blockchain. Binance said it is checking every network separately, and its restored list so far covers networks such as Ethereum and BNB Chain.

Hyperliquid Daily itself admitted security checks “may involve additional technical considerations.”

Still, this is not HYPE’s first wait at Binance. The global exchange only opened spot trading for HYPE on September 24, and tagged it as higher risk.

By then, rivals had moved months earlier. OKX listed HYPE for spot trading in November 2025, and US exchanges Kraken and Coinbase followed in January and February 2026.

“Seriously, why did Binance take almost 2 years to list HYPE? HYPE launched in November 2024 Binance Futures listed it in May 2025. And now, almost 2 years later HYPE finally gets Binance spot,” one user said in September.

In America, Binance.US listed Hyperliquid’s HYPE in June 2025, more than a year earlier.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) gave one possible reason on the When Shift Happens podcast, in an episode released September 25.

He said Binance’s rules required it to hold the tokens it listed itself, to limit counterparty risk, meaning the risk of relying on another company’s systems.

CZ added that he no longer runs Binance and was not sure the rule still applied.

What Happens if Binance Misses Its Own Deadline?

Binance has pledged to cover every user loss from the breach. Covered losses, however, do not give holders their coins back sooner.

The November 5 update never explained how Binance measures demand. So the end of next week is now the only clear marker HYPE holders have.
