Shiba Inu Team Urges Traders to Take Care After $20 Million Liquidation Wave

The Shiba Inu team urged traders to take care after a $20 million liquidation wave hit SHIB within 24 hours. Longs absorbed $12.9 million of that total.

The same post also called for more bulls and burns. Bullish bets still outnumber bearish ones 2.71 to 1, leaving SHIB longs exposed to a second flush.

Why the Shiba Inu Team’s Caution Fits the Futures Data

The team backed its call for caution with futures data. These contracts let traders bet on SHIB’s price, often with borrowed money.

Futures volume hit $49.3 million over the same window, the Shiba Inu team says.

By contrast, spot turnover, meaning direct buying and selling of the token, reached only $10.8 million. That puts derivatives activity at roughly 4.5 times spot.

Please take care of your trades. Bulls and more burns we need!

In practice, borrowed money rather than outright token purchases drives short-term moves. Consequently, small price swings can trigger outsized liquidations.

Shorts lost roughly $7 million, so the flush hit both sides. However, longs carried about two-thirds of the damage.

A heavy long tilt cuts both ways. A further dip could force more longs out, and each forced sale adds selling pressure.

The bullish call itself is familiar. It echoes the team’s community bull posting from August.

92 Billion SHIB Move Onto Exchanges

Spot flows add a separate signal. Exchanges received 324.28 billion SHIB over 24 hours, while 232.21 billion left, the Shiba Inu team says.

The result is a net inflow of about 92.07 billion tokens. Tokens parked on a trading venue can reach the order book at once.

Coins in self-custody, in contrast, need a transfer before anyone can sell them. Net inflows therefore serve as a gauge of selling readiness, the team explains.

That supply arrives at a weak point for the token. SHIB has lost roughly half its value over the past year.

Still, the inflow is modest next to June, when whales sent 1.04 trillion SHIB to exchanges in a single day. The next flow readings will show whether these coins get sold or simply sit on exchanges.

For now, futures desks rather than spot buyers set the tone, which helps explain the Shiba Inu team’s caution. That fits a year of thin organic demand, with Shibarium usage collapsing in on-chain data.
