CZ Says Peter Schiff Will Be Right About Bitcoin One Day. There’s a Catch

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) mocked gold advocate Peter Schiff on Monday. A viral supercut had stitched together years of Peter Schiff Bitcoin doom calls. “He will be right one day… after he changes his mind,” CZ wrote.

The supercut runs nearly three minutes. However, its final seconds deliver the real punchline, as Schiff admits he cannot explain what keeps Bitcoin (BTC) afloat.

How 13 Years of Bitcoin Insults Ended in a Shrug

A Bitcoin commentator shared the compilation on X. According to the post, the clips span the last 13 years of Schiff’s TV and podcast appearances.

Throughout the video, Schiff calls Bitcoin “tulip mania 2.0,” a “pure Ponzi,” and “digital fool’s gold.” He also predicts again and again that it will go to zero.

Plotted against the price, his calls came at levels from about $355 in 2013 to over $111,000 in 2025.

Other clips tie Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to what he calls one of the biggest Bitcoin crashes ever. In another, he says BTC would crash if Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, ever sold its coins.

Yet the last clip flips the Peter Schiff Bitcoin thesis. Schiff notes the asset trading at roughly $81,800 “as we’re speaking.”

“I don’t know what’s holding Bitcoin up,” he says, adding that it “should be a lot lower than that.”

Peter Schiff Bitcoin Feud Outlives Every Crash Call

At press time, Bitcoin’s live price hovers near $82,500. In other words, BTC sits close to the level Schiff found so puzzling.

Meanwhile, CZ has argued the opposite side of the hard-money debate. In September, he said Bitcoin could overtake gold next cycle in market value.

Schiff, for his part, has not changed course. Last week, he called the gold price slide a gift after hot inflation data. He also claims most stocks already sit in a bear market.

Still, the Peter Schiff Bitcoin feud reflects a wider split among scarcity investors. Gold bugs trust metal, while Bitcoin holders trust code. After 13 years of crash calls, neither camp shows any sign of switching sides.
